You need to take many sideways to actually get where you want. Yes, some of the tech we have worked on hasn't quite delivered - but does it mean we should have not invested in it? I don't think so. The path to success is rarely a straightforward one.

I mean, despite the often harsh tone, it just shows to me that you guys really care - you really want us to do better! And I'm grateful for that! Just give us a hint how and we will try.įirst of all, thank you for your support and all these discussions. I know that you had been a long-time Avast user, and I'd really like to win you back. But I'm not quite sure I understand when you say that you're annoyed by the mere fact that these features exist. The fact is, some of our users have problems with the freemium business model ("free-to-play" with in-app purchases of premium features), and I can see that: the product can be a bit noisy at times, and I understand there are people who may not be comfortable with that. So, I'm confused whether the thing that irritates you is the mere existence of these extra features, their actual quality/implementation, the business model and the way the product is sold etc. It feels to me that the list is quite similar to what you're calling "extra junk" in case of Avast above, but somehow, the stuff is in your product of choice as well (and quite honestly, is a pretty standard set of features these days, see also Norton, Kaspersky etc.). Looking at their website, the product gives you the following (besides the malware protection / core security features): I mean, for example take Eset (I suppose that's your product of choice, given your Avatar). to add i used to sell avast to some clients, i no longer have a single client who uses it whether it be at my recc or because (and i have a small number who did this) called me to remove it and put something else on thereĬlick to expand.Well, I'm still not sure I understand.

I just did a search for avast bloat and i know for sure im not the only one who says this, to pay for an av then to have to disable half of it. i dont want to have to mess with it at all. like a " gaming version " or super light version etc. just to use the installer to remove what i didnt want, please just release a plain version with just the av, MAIN shields and an option for the firewall and i may just start using it again. i mentioned it many times, even asked on the avast forum back then and never had a resolution.
#Avast or bitdefender 2016 install
and yes a few years back when you guys started adding the extra junk i did custom install but then i would either be suggested by the gui to add the missing stuff (same with avg) or a pop up for it, or at times i had avast do a major update then after a reboot it took it upon itself to add stuff i chose not to install.
#Avast or bitdefender 2016 drivers
the web toolbar remover, search engine tools, system speedup junk, drivers updater, registry cleaners, defrag tools etc etc etc the list goes on, avg was also like this. Basically anything other than the things needed for the av and or firewall.
